CITY2 Add 2 to Roster
It appears that CITY2 has added two additional players to the preseason roster, Kwame Awuah and Vitor Dias. Both players are listed as midfielders, and both were being considered by the Vancouver Whitecaps before appearing on the CITY2 roster. Kwame was on trial with Vancouver and Vitor was selected by the Whitecaps in the 3rd Round of this year's MLS Draft. No details on the club decisions on either player are available at this time, though both were at Vancouver's training camp last month.
Kwame Awuah is a 26 year old left back from Canada, who can also play midfield. Kwame was selected in the 1st round by NYCFC in the 2017 MLS Draft. Kwame played in 10 matches over 2 seasons with NYCFC but was released at the end of the 2018 season. Kwame then signed with ForgeFC in the Canadian Premier League, where he has played consistently for the last 3 seasons.
Vitor Dias is a Forward/Midfielder from Brazil who was a major part of the NCAA National Champion, Marshall University in 2020. Dias, nicknamed "The Magician" for his moves and ball-handling skills, scored 5 goals and added 5 assists in 17 matches last season, which totaled 14 goals and 15 assists overall in his 54 game career at Marshall.
With a crowded left back side already seeming to be in place for CITY2, it will be interesting to see how Kwame is utilized. The same can be said about Vitor, if he is indeed to be slotted in the midfield. Reports on both players seem to indicate that they are quick and physical, and should fit in nicely. While it is nice to have options, it looks like CITY2 positions are going to be hard fought to secure for every player going into the regular season.
