2022 MLS Kickoff Weekend Is Here!
2022 MLS Kickoff Weekend is Here!
Honestly, it is hard to believe that the 2022 season is already here. Just two months ago I was standing at Providence Park in Portland on a cold, windy day watching the 2021 MLS Cup. And now (just two months later), with another winter weather advisory in St. Louis, it will be a great weekend to enjoy the kickoff of the 2022 season.
For those new fans who are excited that St. Louis CITY SC kicking off in one year, the time is now to get to know the league, the players, and all the unique qualities of the other clubs. And this weekend is the perfect time to start your "research" of future opponents.
For this season, all MLS teams will play a 34-game schedule this season - 17 home and 17 away games. The MLS Cup will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2022, which is about two weeks prior to the 2022 World Cup. There are also some schedule adjustments throughout the season to accommodate the FIFA international windows.
The league is loaded with experienced players, as well as young players with a ton of potential. If you are wanting to learn more about some of the top players in the league, here are just a few to keep an eye on for 2022:
